Environmental Architecture UK,MIDDLESBROUGH: Nature's World Ecostructure

The North of England’s Pioneering Eco-Experience Nature’s World is developing a futuristic ‘Ecostructure’ and a ‘Hydroponicum’. The ‘Ecostructure’ is earth sheltered which has the advantage that it helps keep the building warm in the winter and cool in the summer. The ‘Hydroponicum’ is the large bowl shaped dome housing an indoor garden of the future.

As the name may suggest, this feature will be using Hydroponics to grow a wide range of fruits, flowers and herbs without soil in a liquid nutrient solution in a totally controlled environment. The ‘Hydroponicum’ is south facing in order to get maximum benefit from the sun and daylight.
The whole complex will be powered by a unique combination of renewable energies - namely geothermal power and solar power. The building will set new standards for environmental impact and for energy efficiency. It will also have exceptionally low running costs.
