An Israeli start-up called StoreDot [1] has been reported to have displayed a device [2] made of biological structures at Microsoft's Think Next Conference that can charge a smartphone from a dead battery state to full power in under 30 seconds. StoreDotís technology can be applied in batteries for mobile devices, providing a sustainable solution that can replace lithium-ion batteries. Due to the size of StoreDot nanodots, the electrode capacitance is increased, resulting in next generation batteries that can be fully charged in minutes rather than hours.
