The United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon’s World Environment Day message is “Mitigating climate change, eradicating poverty and promoting economic and political stability all demand the same solution: we must kick the carbon habit. This is the theme for World Environment Day 2008. “Kick the Habit: Towards a Low Carbon Economy”

Recognising that climate change is the defining issue of our era, the United Nations Environment Program is asking countries, companies and communities to focus on greenhouse gas emissions and how to reduce them.

Our company – The Low Carbon Economy Ltd (www.LowCarbonEconomy.com [1]) has a clear message for people and businesses which we hope you can take on and help spread as widely as possible. Our message is simple – you have the right to live a sustainable low carbon lifestyle, which will offer enormous advantages – for you, the planet we live on, and all who inhabit it. Together we can make it happen, by demanding and creating low carbon products and services, and the right to live in low carbon communities and adopt low carbon lifestyles. Whether it’s:

  • The products you buy: choose, promote, create, and request low carbon equivalents
  • The energy you use: it’s so simple to switch to low carbon energy
  • The food you eat: choose low carbon food
  • The vehicles you buy: make low carbon travel choices
  • The buildings you use: lower the carbon footprint of your homes and offices
  • Low carbon your lifestyle: Low carbon... everything! (how low carbon are you?)

Our website www.LowCarbonEconomy.com [2] is a resource created to help accelerate the transition to a sustainable low carbon economy by connecting people and businesses with relevant low carbon information, products, services, opportunities – and each other!
